Peter Spilsbury Jewellery
Peter Spilsbury’s current works feature objects found in nature such as feathers and teasels. Each found object has it’s shape framed by a tailor made casing to fit and enhance its natural form and dimensions.
My work is about exploring patterns found in nature. The beauty nature creates through it’s everyday functions captivates me. I do not try to replicate nature because I find a copy is never as good as the original.
Instead I use what I call raw nature and I explore the natural detail by opening up these found objects and drawing attention to their form.’
Peter Spilsbury is a graduate of Falmouth University College of Arts and has a BA in Three Dimensional Design. His business began in Falmouth - Cornwall before spreading its wings and making the move to a studio in Gipsy Hill - London. Peter is now part of a creative collective in a Co-operative studio where his jewellery is part of a mix of creative disciplines that exist there. Peter holds regular open studios and exhibits his work in galleries and museums. He is also a member of the Crafts Council and currently sells his work throughout the UK.
